How to bring in the New Year in the woods - Ocala National Forest

This year I decided to bring in the new year completely different. Since I am going to be spending much of this year traveling on the weekends and starting a new blog – why not kick it off with a camping trip.

I wasn’t sure how this whole sleeping in a tent and not showering thing was gonna play out. Also, I was honestly a little nervous about having my crazy friends and my boyfriend all together, but it was a great time. I think we all enjoyed each others company and made the best of our time in the woods, without tv’s or social media – although I don’t know what we would have done without music.

I’m not sure how everything worked out so well (other than the raccoon stealing our food). My two best friends, my boyfriend, lots of alcohol, 9 hours away from home – in the middle of the Ocala National Forest.

I mostly just lounged in the hammock & drank beer while they set up the tent, & we all fell asleep well before midnight on New Years Eve, but it would be an understatement to say we had a great time.

We camped near Alexander Springs. The campground itself was nothing short of perfect!

They had fire rings set up with little grill fixtures over them, that we were able to cook on.

We even got to do my FAVORITE thing – canoeing!

We rented the canoes from within walking distance from our campsite.

The water was incredibly clear and warm.

I could not be happier with my decision to drive down from North Carolina to

Florida’s perfect weather. Yes, my skin is glowing white – it is January! lol

& unfortunately I don’t live in Florida (yet).

one thing i did learn — pack lighter !

The car was suuuppper packed & we didn’t end up needing half of the stuff we brought.

I can’t wait to go camping again.

comment any places you know/love to camp!
